In the world of assistive technology, innovations continue to transform the lives of individuals with disabilities, providing them with newfound independence and control. One such groundbreaking solution is the Switch-It Vigo Head Control – a wireless proportional head control that allows drivers to effortlessly navigate their power wheelchairs and other devices using intuitive head movements. The manufacturer, Now Technologies LTD, has more than 10 years of industry-specific knowledge and was founded to help people with disabilities to live an independent life.
The Vigo Head Control allows riders to utilize their full range of head motion (however restricted this may be) to intuitively drive their power wheelchair and control their computer. It's as easy as tilting your head. In addition to wheelchair control, the Vigo also functions as a wireless head mouse, allowing drivers to connect to any computer, smartphone, or tablet to play games, work, and socialize. Additional features include emergency stops, algorithms to detect unusual control inputs, and Bluetooth headset functionality for phone calls. This one device can fulfill many roles, making it a game-changer in the field of assistive technology.
It boasts a lightweight headpiece with an unobtrusive, sleek design that connects to the headset's control device wirelessly. No cables to get in the way. The discreet design allows for better social interaction while driving the power wheelchair. The driver has an unobstructed field of view and friends can make eye contact and see facial expressions. The Vigo is an option for drivers who would normally utilize a head array, sip-n-puff, chin control, or other alternative drive controls.
With desktop and mobile apps, the driving experience can be easily personalized down to the smallest details. Each head movement control can be configured independently to suit the driver's range of motion. It constantly measures the drive's head position in space, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of conditions. Adjustments to the range of head movements can be made using sliders in the app, making it a versatile solution that can adapt to changing needs over time.
Vigo not only allows the driver to change positions easily, but the position of the headset is maintained when switching between seating functions and driving. Lift, tilt, and recline with your head movement - no need to reach the joystick.
Head controls that are attached to the chair require the rider's head to be always positioned within the head control in order to be able to operate it effectively. Since the Vigo is positioned on the driver's head, the ability to operate the Vigo is optimal and maintained even during transfers. The Vigo headset connects via Bluetooth, so there aren't any wires to get in the way.
